Freight Guide to Moving Perishables
In legal terms, perishable goods are defined as “goods which are lessened in value and become worse by being kept.” The transport or freighting of these goods is a multi-million dollar industry and requires a lot of care in its execution and delivery. Perishable goods were the first type of goods to be transported by air, and today, you will find that many airline freighting companies have vast experience in the transport of perishable goods
Perishable cargo may be in the form of food items, medicines or biological samples. Most people prefer to transport perishable goods by air, especially when the goods have to be transported over long distances: There are many factors to be taken into consideration in the transport of perishable goods from one place to another.
- The first step in the process is the preparation of the goods for transport. Unless the items are properly prepared, the chances of the cargo items getting spoilt during the transportation process are very high.
- Once the goods have been properly prepared, care must be taken while wrapping and packing the material.
- The next critical step is the dispatch. Before dispatch, it must be ensured that the perishable items are carefully arranged to avoid collision or movement during travel.
- The final step in the process is the delivery. All these factors are vital to the safe preservation and transportation of these delicate goods.
