Freight, 2010 and the year ahead (January 2010)
2009 really was quite a year and hopefully all of us who have pulled through 2009 will begin to see a more fruitful and dynamic year for business in 2010. All signs are that manufacturing and business should gradually begin to increase through 2010, albeit improvements in the economy could well be gradual, rather than a sudden improvement in the economy.
Certainly, as growth rates in the economy begin to rise, the gradual increase in manufacturing means a higher demand for metals and products used in manufacturing. This in turn means an increase in the use of oil and gas and other fuels as fuel is needed to run the equipment and also movement of freight.
All signs are positive and with each few months, business should improve, fingers crossed. 2011 will by the looks of it, be the tear in which most of us really begin to see the changes.
I hope you have a good 2010 and I look forward to writing on numerous issues and subjects to do with freight forwarding, shipping, imports, exports and business in general.
