Exporters and importers eager to establish freight enterprises in Ireland will now find it easier to trade with the country since the Freight Transport Association recently set up a base in the region. The association was established in Ireland, by Chris Welsh, the General Manager of the FTA on the 30th June, this year in a ceremony at Dublin Castle. The FTAI was set up because of a demand to promote the efficiency and responsibility of the logistics and transport industry in thecountry.

The new Irish Freight Transport Association also known as the FTAI aimsto regulate and improve the existing freight logistics and has already secured the membership of some of the country’s best freight companies. According to the latest freight news, the FTAI has over 20 members including FedEx, UPS, DHL, Tesco and Wincanton.

The FTAI plans to develop secure and efficient supply chains and freight transport systems in Ireland in the future, in order to boost the country’s economy and create a sustainable freight industry. Some of the sectors that will come under the umbrella of the FTAI include supply chain services, passenger transport, all forms of freight and the regions various transportation systems from road to air.

The FTAI is a non profit organisation focussing on the best interest of its members that has plans to function as a source for information services for Irish freight companies and new enterprises looking to trade with the country. The organisation will hold meetings to discuss the views of Irish freight businesses on the country’s freight transport policies and will also consider the nation’s transport system, allowing port authorities and aviation companies to express their views.
